A mountain town with a living old quarter
Bansko sits at the foot of the Pirin Mountains in south-west Bulgaria, where the national park's granite peaks rise above the town. In winter it is one of the country's best-known ski resorts; the rest of the year it is a base for hiking, thermal spas and slow days in the cobbled old town.
